Coming Up For Air

Thanks to all of you who have sent me positive thoughts and prayers.  I appreciate them more than you may know.  Completely out of the blue one of my children-healthy as a horse let me just add-has been diagnosed with a serious disease.  Supposedly very treatable. Supposedly NOT far advanced. Supposedly 99% recovery rate.

Supposedly is still very scary.

And isn’t it amazing how all the pieces of your life come together?  I am deeply grateful for all the experiences that taught me:

It’s alright to let go.

It can be safe to trust.

People are happy to help.

It’s ok to need help and ask for it.

This community has been instrumental in helping me practice these things over the past months.

I’m glad I had the practice.

Thank you all.

I think I’m going to be alright.

  1. Saoirse, you only have to email me even if it’s night-time. Anything I can do! I understand completely. We are glad because Starman’s bone scan showed no cancer in his bones. So now we await the next steps. But sometimes we get impatient because of the waiting between each stage of treatment. You didn’t mention what the serious disease is, but if we can help, we will! Maybe some of us have experience of it and can help allay your fears somewhat.

    Many hugs to you!

    • Thanks, Ami. I appreciate all the support. I’m not saying more at this time in an effort to protect the child’s confidentiality. I will e mail you-thanks for the offer!

    • Thank you Julia! I need the positive thoughts. I’m very sure you will learn them in time. It’s taken years and having this community has moved me forward by lightyears!

  2. Hugs to you Saoirse. Lots and lots of them! Thinking of you and your family and sending positive thoughts your way for a successful recovery for your child.

    • Thanks Tess. This is an unreal nightmare-and you don’t get to sit around adapting and adjusting, researching and analyzing–you have to jump! Thanks for the hugs-I swear they do travel over cyber space 🙂

  3. I was really glad to see this yesterday! I know the anxiety will not go away till your child is again 100%…so we will keep sending our thoughts your way.

  4. Saoirse,

I’ve always felt, as most mothers do, I’ll deal with anything…just keep my children safe from harm. It’s the worst feeling in the world when they are hurting or not safe. I’ll continue to send positive thoughts and prayers your way.

  5. Howdy just wanted to give you a quick heads up.
The text in your article seem to be running off the screen in Opera.

I’m not sure if this is a formatting issue or something to do
with internet browser compatibility but I figured I’d post to let you know.

The design and style look great though! Hope you get the problem fixed soon.
    Many thanks

    • Thanks, Caleb. Tragically, I have no idea what you’re telling me, but I do apprecaite it. Forunately, I have an amazing Computer Goddess to turn to:
Lucy Felthouse of Writer Marketing Services. Apparently Computer Goddess is one of her many skills–because the woman writes amazing stories too!
