Recipe: The Best Thanksgiving Turkey

I believe cooking a Thanksgiving turkey should be a wonderful experience that can bring a family together.  Even if there is just the two of you-and sometimes that is the best-you both can have a wonderful time.  🙂

Step 1: It is crucial the both the turkey and the person who will be doing the stuffing are clean.  So wash thoroughly.

Step 2: Tenderize the turkey. This is a step that is often completely overlooked!  Using rapid swings of the hand, and if necessary, implements,  the cook should make contact with whatever area of the turkey he/she -believes should receive this treatment.

Basting:  Soothing the turkey with liquid can help the process.

(totally unable to make this line go away!)                                                                                Basting...

Stuffing:  I ask you: What is turkey without stuffing?

Stuff vigorously!  Stuff thoroughly!

Simmer:  The longer your turkey simmers the happier you both will be.

  1. No kidding Saoirse, I just spluttered coffee on my laptop while reading this. LOL! We are going to have to come up with some other inspiring topics so that you can round out our knowledge of how things should be done.

  2. The turkey looks scrummy!!! Can’t wait for Christmas. The stuffing looks good too. What a good idea to put it on your blog! What pudding did you have?! Ami

    • Thanks, Ami. There’s no doubt about it-we are greedy folks. There was bread pudding, pecan pie, pumpkin roll, lemon bars, blondies and brownies……And I had a wee bit of each so I manage it all!

      • Stop! Stop! This is too good to be true – my mouth’s watering! What is pumpkin roll? And are blondies like brownies but made with white chocolate? Definitely need to have some sort of recipe swapping thing for Christmas so us ignorant Brits can learn some of your great recipes! Please…. Ami

      • Pumpkin roll is like a very moist cake with cream cheese filling….VERY yummy. Blondies are made with peanut butter and have chocolate chips and/or white chocolate chips and have been my favorites since I was in elementary school and one of my friends would bring them to share! I’m happy to swap recipes-because that’s what we’re all about here, right? 🙂
